Well we have just had the third anniversary of Ryan's death. It is so hard to believe that it has been 3 years since we have seen or hugged him. We will always miss him, and not a day goes by that we don't think of him.

The Assistant DA called this morning to tell us that the trial had been postponed again. The new trial date is January 10th. They are going back to look at another case that may be related to this one just to make sure they have not missed anything.

We have a new trial date for November 15th. Monday will be jury selection, we won't go until Tuesday. Hopefully this one will work.

Well the trial has been postponed again. Suddenly on Friday afternoon, the defense attorney realized that he had defended one of the witnesses previously. So that would be a conflict of interest and give the defense a reason to get anything overturned. The defendant could have waived it all, but he refused. Are we surprised? So now it looks like it will probably be moved to January. At least this time we were prepared.

Stan and I had a meeting with the DA's office yesterday. Things seem promising for at least now. They say that we are going to trial, it is just a matter of when. We have a trial date on October 18th, that will be jury selection day, so we will actually go on Tuesday. It could possibly be postponed, we will just have to wait and see. We are ready to get all of this overwith and get on with our lives. Going through all of this just keeps things upset.

I got a call from an investigator with the Dallas DA's office. She says we are going to trial on Oct. 18th. We got a letter on Saturday instructing us to be there on that day. This is farther than we got last year. I spoke with the Assistant DA on Friday and he says we are going to trial and that he will be the one trying the case. We are afraid to get our hopes up, but we sure hope that the guys get tried finally for killing Ryan.

We had a meeting with the DA's office on Friday. It looks like we have a better chance of going to trial this time. They will now start plea bargaining to see if they can force David Renteria to help convict Abel Quevedo. Hopefully both of them will now go to prison. We don't have much faith in the DA's office right now, so we will wait and see what happens. We are supposed to contact them the middle of Sept. to see what is going on with the plea bargaining.

We have a meeting with the District Attorney's office on Friday morning, for them to tell us what they intend to do. Hopefully they are taking both of the guys to trial. It will be difficult to go through 2 trials, but we will manage. Stan and I, and Jared and Ericka are all going. So we are hoping for good news.

Great news today. We found out late this afternoon that the person who killed Ryan has been put back in federal prison. This along with the news that the driver had been charged with his murder last week gives us new hope that justice will prevail. Things seem to be falling into place suddenly, when we had lost hope last year when the DA wouldn't take it to trial. Now things seem to be changing. We can only hope.

More news. Last night a homicide detective called to give us all of the information. David Renteria has bragged to someone about planning and carrying out Ryan's murder. So now we have a witness who is willing to testify. This is the first bit of hope we have had in almost a year. So now we sit back and let the wheels of justice work. And as we know, that can be very slow.

Just got some news about Ryan's murder. The second guy who was driving the car has been arrested and charged with murder also. The detectives will only tell us that something new has come to light within the last week, and they think something will happen with it now. We can only hope. The guy is in custody now.
